CATARACT SURGERY

REFRACTIVE SURGERY
LASIK
LASIK is a safe excimer laser procedure for the correction of farsightedness, nearsightedness and astigmatism. Its beneficial effects on vision usually last many years. We specialize in helping you understand if this procedure might be helpful for you. See our LASIK page for more information.
PRK
PRK is a close cousin to LASIK and is generally as effective as LASIK in correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness and Astigmatism. It is less popular because the healing time can be a little longer, with a little more irritation and blur for the first few postoperative days.
Refractive Lens Exchange
A Refractive Lens Exchange is cataract surgery done before a visually impairing cataract develops. This is a good procedure for taking care of farsightedness, nearsightedness and/or astigmatism in patients that are older than age 50.
EYELID SURGERY
Ptosis
At Davidson Eye we do this procedure in-office. Call us if you are bothered by drooping, saggy eyelids.
Blepharoplasty
This is done in-office, frequently as a adjunct to ptosis repair.
GLAUCOMA
Glaucoma Types (Open-Angle)
This is the most common form of glaucoma, affecting millions of Americans. It is particularly dangerous because it has no symptoms, typically, until it has become advanced and severe.
Glaucoma – LPI
An in-office laser procedure that’s necessary for those with closure or near-closure of the drainage mechanism of the eye.
Glaucoma: S.L.T. Surgery
This is an increasingly popular treatment for patients with various forms of open angle glaucoma. It can be helpful in reducing medication burden for many patients. It is a quick, pain-free, in-office procedure.
RETINA PROBLEMS
AMD – Dry
Most common form of macular degeneration.
AMD – Wet
The most quickly devastating form of the disease, needs to be diagnosed and treated quickly in order to avoid profound, permanent vision loss.
AMD – Prevention
Floaters
Good information on a very common problem
Retinal Tear
A dangerous condition, usually characterized by the onset of visual flashes and floaters. It needs to be treated promptly before it progresses to a retinal detachment.
Diabetic Retinopathy
Macular Pucker
Sometimes called epiretinal membrane, this is a common problem in the elderly. Fortunately, it usually only causes mild to moderate visual impairment
MISCELLANEOUS
Dry Eye
Strabismus
This is a condition of misalignment of the eyes, usually leading to amblyopia (poor seeing eye) in children, double vision in adults. There are good surgical solutions for most strabismus problems. Some patients with strabismus benefit greatly from properly prescribed glasses.
